Today being my 51st birthday, I rode 52 miles (one to grow on) Saturday with my son and a few members of my club. We had a nice day to ride with temps from the low 60s to the mid 70s. We rode some of my favorite local rural roads and climbed several good hills. I took Ribby the Bridgestone and had a nice time riding at a a good strong pace (for me).
Today, I took the day off and rode with another club member who was out of town Saturday but had Columbus Day off. Since I knew he had kind of a clunker of an old bike, I took Uncle Duke, my general purpose bike. We picked a route mostly new to both of us and explored some back roads we always figured would be good for riding, but had never tried. It was another cool day and we had a great ride that turned out to be 68 miles. There were big hills, long flat sections, new asphalt, old shake 'n bake and a few miles of gravel strewn dirt road. Some of the farm areas were like a throwback to a simpler time.
Sure beats working!
