New here, great info so far. But I have a couple of stupid questions. I have ridden road bikes for some time in the past, now have a mtn bike. I live in a remote area of Ukraine and parts are hard to get, so here goes.

First the tires are 2.25 and the tubes that came with the bike are 1.90. Is this right? And what size can I get by with? It's hard to find them here.

Also, the bike rims fit Presta tubes, but it's very hard to get them here. Can the hole be widen without other problems, to fit Schraeder tubes I mean?

And finally, here in Crimea there are bushes with naul like thorns, which are everywhere and are a problem. Other than commercial liners, which I'll have sent (takes a long time) anything else homemade I can do?

Thanks in advance! Lena:o

Yes, the rims can be drilled out for schraeder valves. I have had 1.9" tubes in 2.3" tires for over a month now without a problem.

Krimchik, are you able to order goods online?

Thanks for that shooter, it is a nightmare to find tubes. Everything is 1.75 and everything presta is road..

And yes I can order and have things sent to family in the US, then they send here. It takes some time however.

The tube package usually lists a range of sizes it's good for like 1.95-2.20 or something to that effect.

Check out this place based in Germany, they ship to Ukraine. I use them several times a year for parts that I can't find locally.

Also check out your local cycling club for help finding parts, you might be surprised what you'll find!

Cut the valve stems out of a couple of used-up innertubes. Stuff the valveless inner tubes into your tires.

Thanks for that, all good, but I don't see Ukraine listed on bike-components site, I'll check with them. The prices are high compared to what I can get in the US and sent here. But it would take less time. I'll consider.

Cheers, Lena
