As of midnight last night, I need to refrain from consuming any food, according to the doctor. Because I am getting my oral surgery in 2.5 hours.

I am hungry, but I can deal. But I am also thirsty. Is it okay if I have a glass of water?

If the doctor orders read NPO, it means NOTHING Sorry! No water or food. They do that to prevent vomiting any stomach content during surgery. The anasthetics can cause severe nausea and if you are under, you can inhale said vomitus, making an inconvenience a medical emergency.

How 'bout calling and asking your doc (even a nurse at your office) instead of relying on the advice of a bunch of washed-up bikers in an internet forum? :D

That would be the best course, although I ain't washed up! I'm just getting ready for my shower, then I will be washed up!

Phantomcowhttp://forum-images.hardware.fr/images/perso/jibbi.gif, if you can't get hold of them, presume a no, though. Better safe than sorry!

I suppose I shouldn't generalize my own experiences (having just stepped out of the shower) to everyone in foo. ;)

Well he told me to follow the instructions on the bottle of 800mg Ibuprofen. The bottle says to take one tablet with sip of water the morning of. So, I will consume just that.

Phantom, you gotta remember, if you are going to ask this kind of question, the most responsible response is going to be the most conservative one. I take that stance so I don't tell someone something that will hurt them.

Vodka contains water. So does air for that matter.

Eat two really big bowls of Lucky Charms before you go in. That'll sure surprise 'em when you start to erupt.

Surgery is fine.

I got in, immediately got this breathing mask out on me, just covers my nose is all. THis was of course the nitrous oxide. She said ther will be a gradual effect. Well 10 minutes I felt nothing, the standard ratio was not enough, so they had to add more nitrogen to the mix. Within just a few minutes, I could think quite clearly, but my appendages were tingly. If I tried to move, it was as if my body was extremely fatigued with an extra little tingle. Come to think of it, maybe it was not so clear in thinking, everything felt a tiny bit more slower, my memory is a little fuzzy. The smell after the adjusted the gas was sort of sweet by the way.

So I remember one of the nurses kept on trying to adjust my finger plug which monitored heart rate. The doctor came in, I saw his face for a second, he said "We will make this real easy for you, Bernard". I told him thankyou. They did something to my skin underneath the right elbow. Rubbed it with a bit of gauss maybe, I think the laughing gas had full effect by then. Then this cold cold liquid he said will freeze my skin was poured on. Now I was told to prepare for just a pinch, nurse said take a deep breath, and instantly it was there. She looked at me and said "The drug will take effect shortly now", the said it kind of slowly because by the end of that, I was out.

I wake up, 30% awake, told all is done. Two large pieces of gausz are stuck in my mouth, in the way back. I see a little bandaid on my elbow. My mouth feels as big as Brian Feduks from the novacaine. Two nurses helped me walk into the other room (very dizzy right now), I stayed there for I dont know how long. There was a bed for me to lay down on. After I got my special helmet, I was able to make it to car, quite dizzy but could walk unsupported. Drove home, I can't really remember much about the drive home.

Not really much pain, probably due to the 800mg ibuprofen. Just a lot of bleeding

You didn't drive yourself home, did you????

And what "special helmet" did they give you? We need a pic of that.....

Man, all I remember was the pain after they ripped out my wisdoms. That, and asking about 156 times if they could give me my teeth as a souvineer. The baahstids wouldn't give them to me!

Looks like you came through in great shape. The bleeding is what bothered me as I hate the taste of blood. Good luck on your recovery.

Dummy me is planning to go to work and attend an SGA meeting after my wisdom removal Friday.

I will only have 1/4 of my wisdom left.:)

Actually, I had my mother pedal the bike for me while I rode in the trailer.
