Hello all sorry if this question is out of place but I am getting ready to sell a trek 470 and I don’t know mush about it. I know that it is a pretty good bike. It has Shimano RSX brakes, levers, derailleurs, and gearshift levers on the brake levers. It has been ridden but not very much by a friend. It has been sitting for at least the past 4 years. Does anyone know what it is worth? I also need to know how to ship it and who to ship it with (UPS, RPS, etc).

Thanks in advance,

Brian

I don't know the value, but you can get a box from your LBS to box it up in if you want. And you can ship it UPS or fedex. Original retail price was $724 for it.. But now it is 4-5 yeras old, so that depreciates the value quite a bit.

Peddle it on E-Bay-you'll find out what it's worth pretty quick.

I developed this for tandems but it should work on bicycles too:

It's not perfect, but it seems to put most folks in the ball park.

As for shipping: Single bike will meet most oversized package requirements so almost any of the bigs can ship it. Just remember to insure it for full value in the event it gets "lost" or damaged. Shipping firms:

- FedEx Ground (RPS): Good luck so far and cheaper than UPS
- UPS: Used to be the tightest ship in the shipping business.. not any more
- Greyhound: Cheap but you need to meet the bus at the terminal
- Amtrak: Cheap but, again, you need to find a station for drop-off / pick-up.
- Danzas: Not cheap, but they'll haul oversized bikes (tandems, etc...)
