Here's a small article on how LosAngeles, California is giving you a little extra in your paycheck each month to keep the car at home and take mass transit. I guss traffic is getting so bad, you have to pay people today to keep their cars home. What about those who never drived to work get or are they just shut out completely from this bonus?

Parking spaces have many external costs that we carfree people end up paying, along with everybody else. I think the companies should have to pay a tax on each parking space, and pass the cost on to employees who drive to work.
One large expense that we all subsidize, even if we don't drive: the rain that falls on parking lots runs off into storm sewers and either has to be treated, or allowed to pollute rivers. Parking lots also contribute to climate change, since they replace trees that would be removing carbon dioxide from the air. And we all have to look at their ugliness, so there's an esthetic expense also.
