Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

In Greg LeMond's book, in the section on training, he mentions that when he first signed on to a European team, his coach (Cyrille Guimard) sent him a brochure that, among other things, recommended breathing exercises. But in the book, he doesn't elaborate.
Does anybody know what kind of breathing exercises he's talking about?
I don't know what he's talking about, but I frequently work with breathing exercises to help keep me calm during the more stressful parts of my training. He may be talking about yoga breathing. There are lots of different types of yoga breathing you can practice to work with keeping your heart rate down, or if it's already high, help to bring your heart rate back under control.
I'm babysitting my nephews at their crib tonight, but tomorrow, I'll pull out some books and recommend some places for you to look into. I have several tapes of breathing I use, and I also use them in my indoor cycling classes I teach to my students to control heart rate during training. It works, believe me.

Hi Roadbuzz-
I have a recommendation for you. Try this website:
http://www.holistic-online.com/Yoga/hol_yoga_breathing_traditional.htm
I use the Andrew Weil, M.D. tapes for my breathing methods. The tapes also come with a book on breathing (a small guide). The two tapes I own are: Breathing- The Master Key to Self Healing" parts 1 and 2. Why don't you check the website first, then use that as a starting point before buying any tapes or books.
