I have a steel lugged frame bike from way back (late 70's or early 80's?). It is a Nishiki Cresta. It was bought as a frameset and built with parts that were sitting around at the time. The following are some particulars:
Frame is labeled:
Special Series
Touring
Cro-Mo Double Butted
Champion Tubing
Tange
Dura Ace - brakes, crank (double), hubs, front deraileur, and bar end shifters
Unknown freewheel with a 7 speed 13-28.
Shimano Crane GS rear deraileur
The rims are 27", but it looks like the brakes might adjust for 700c.
The other parts all look like fairly good quality stuff.
There are all of the appropriate braze ons and eyelets.
I need a touring bike. Will this make a good one if I modify it some? If so what parts would you change and what would you replace them with? Would I be better off buying a T800 or similar?
If it isn't worth the trouble what is it worth if I sell it?
I will provide more details on request.
