Foo - Who is BF's greatest (active) troll?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I figured Foo was the best place to put this.

Before voting, there is a very comprehensive definition, history and analysis of trolling here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

For the purposes of this thread, let's concentrate on the 'one-shot' troll:
"One-shot troll messages are intended to be disruptive, and tend to be very obvious to ensure that they will receive annoyed replies." In my own opinion, a good one-shot troll makes an OP, and never has to respond to any posts as the war he/she started rages on with a life of it's own.

My nominee for this category would be SinCityCycler - he's proven to be a one-shot master.

Sincity has been able to walk the line for a long time. If you are asking for purely active...I could agree with the recommendation

I've never experienced him myself, but another member was once telling about this guy "Hank Reardon" in the mountain biking forum who was pretty horrible.

He can be a good guy, he definitely knows his stuff. Just don't get on his bad side or he'll verbally beat you to death. I'll quote SBW on this one: "He always won."

I'm inclined to agree with SinCity, but I'm really not sure he can truthfully be considered a troll. It's just that every time he posts, he shows an almost unbelievable lack of tact, taste, or common sense.

Just take a peek over in P & R. There are a handful (three leap to mind) who repeatedly are spitting toenails and patching up bullet-holes in their feet. They aren't especially capable, but they certainly are persistent.

True...P&R is a whole different animal...that eats its young!

Bill Dozer. Aka bldzr

He doesn't seem to try very hard, but achieves maximum results. He won't even post unless it's to raise hell.

VV is the ultimate troll.

Vic is not really a troll. He posts other subjects, not just inflammatory ones. Just because you don't like him, doesn't mean he fits the description. Same goes for Hank Rearden. Not a troll, just not friendly and highly opinionated. Big difference.

By your definition, Helmet Head is a troll from hell. But he's not. He's just an ass.

errrrmm. . . . . R600DuraAce?

Actually, I don't think he's a troll. I think he's just totally clueless. Totally, utterly, completely, absolutely clueless. If there's anyone here who hasn't experienced the legacy of posts he's had in the roadie forum, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Seriously.

P and R. Even in non - P & R topics, the wars get pretty hot about who is an overdressed wanna-be cyclist.

After much reflexion and caffeine, I deleted my prior post:lol:
I figured naming members on being trolls could be nothing but trouble, if being a troll means being deceptive as to what you truly are, being full of c*** and start trouble, then yeah.. I have a couple in mind but the day is too nice for me to start an argument!:D

Actually most of the 'real' trolls would be quite flattered to be recognized - but I get your point. ;)

I'm not sure whether I'm flattering myself here or not, but I have noticed myself to kill many a thread. Although this alone does not define me as a troll, it certainly is consistent with the "do not feed the troll" mentality.

I wasn't around for the 53X11 All the Way, but hear he's a legend. So I vote for EURO. SinCity is right up there - he provokes, but some of his questions are interesting in an odd way.

EURO, on the other hand, is brilliant. He's confrontational, he baits people, and he's completely up front about it. And we (okay, some of us) fall for it. Something about his posts always provokes a reaction. And what's even better is he's right most of the time, too. Sheer genius.

edit: oops, missed the bit about the troll being 'active'. Not sure if EURO's around anymore.

USAZorro

EURO - is once again active (but for how long?) :D I'll have to change my vote to him, since P & R looks to be gone once again.

atroll is great also, but not in the way the OP described.

Euro is hardly a troll...he actually believes some of the crap he spouts, then runs off to the mods when you give him a taste of his own medicine. Whining to your mommy is not a desirable attribute for a troll.

only one vote for R600DuraAce? Come ON people! I've not seen anyone post in such a way to get people goin nuts like he does. It's classic. It's beautiful. It makes me cry.

The best part about R600's legacy is that there is absolutely zero consensus on whether he really is a troll, or whether he's just totally clueless. IMHO, that is the true mark of a truly great troll - no one knows if they're serious or not. As soon as someone actually becomes recognised as a troll, the tone in their threads changes. When people aren't sure, the hilarity ensues without end.
