Foo - Number Poll

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This going to seem totally silly and random, but it's not quite as random as it would seem on the surface.
The task:
Give me a whole number (no decimals or they'll be ignored) between 0 and 16777215.
If you try to give a number outside of that range (or a valid number, but negative), I will ignore it.
I'll let the numbers go on for a day or two and when its done I will do something with the numbers. :)
Give me yor number please. :D

Hmm... I wonder what the significance of 2^24 is. Umm... should the number be an integer?

Good thing you are not asking for an 8 digit prime number. ;)

Ok....time to wrap up this COLOR poll. :) Let's see what the BF FOO COLOR is. (P.S. Those who gave two numbers, I ignored your 2nd number).
The number, as jschen pointed out was 2^24. Or more specfically, a 24-bit number. Traditionally, colors are specified in RGB format, where there is 8-bits to represent each color component (hence whey 24-bits are required).
I wrote a quick program to convert display of the numbers you gave me to hex, and take their average. The average will be "the FOO color". :)
Here are the results:
1967 (dec) == 0x0007AF (hex)
42 (dec) == 0x00002A (hex)
643872 (dec) == 0x09D320 (hex)
186102 (dec) == 0x02D6F6 (hex)
8675309 (dec) == 0x845FED (hex)
13779596 (dec) == 0xD2428C (hex)
77778 (dec) == 0x012FD2 (hex)

So let's print some text with our FOO color to see how it looks.
What do you think? Does this color represent FOO in all her glory?
Bah....you guys suck. All you can pick is a color that's almost the same as black. ;) :p

It's an average... you expected different results? :rolleyes: C'mon man think!

I think KT's findings confirm one of the universal laws in the universe. Any random sampling of colors, when mixed together, will always yield brown.
It's like when, in kindergarden, you mixed all the colors of finger paint together. No matter what colors you started with, you always got brown.

Yes, we shall bow down before the brown crayon....brownifier of all things, pigmentator of all things written upon, The anti-pink.....brown.
Does this mean UPS is brown crayon's apostle?

Black is FFFFFF, white is 000000.....so I would have expected a middle color to be like a 555555.
Something like this!
Hey....wait....that IS about the same. :( :mad:
I think Foo's color should be the same color as KT's avatar. Purple rocks!

:roflmao: That's so Foo....so perfect in its own way. :roflmao:
Hey! It's not black! Link (http://www.brezhnev.net/bikeforums/foo.html).
Now I'm a bit colour-blind -- at first I thought it was hunter green, but now it's looking more brown. Can anyone who is absolutely not colour blind tell me what colour you see?
Looks like olive green to me. I like it!
Yeah, it's not bad, is it? Now what are we going to do with this?
Edit: FOO JERSEYS!

Hmmm, I don't think I'd wear a jersey with that color :( Maybe if it was some kind of camo theme...
I wasn't thinking a solid olive drab, but it could be incorporated into a design somehow. Or maybe not.
I want a freakin' tee-shirt... I'm too 'Fred' for jerseys!
