Great Lakes - Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well boys and girls, that time has come:

Yep, snow is in the air! Thankfully, its WAAAAAAY up there in the U.P., but its only a matter of time before it makes its way south.
Funny, I was just thinking how beautiful the snow flurries were on my ride in to work. Of course the fact that last night I picked up my new commuter bike may have put a positive spin on the ride.:D

We got a few minutes of flurries only a few miles to your east last night. I guess I better get crackin' on building up my snow/ice bike. Of course, if this winter is much like last, I'll hardly need it.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just spent 1.5 hours driving in to work. There was enough acculmulation that I had to clean off my car as well. I feel a business trip to somewhere warm coming on.....anyone have a folding bike I can borrow (Kenal0)?

We didn't get anything here but a few flakes, and it's supposed to get a little warmer by the weekend. I just bought a shiny new winter commuter bike, which from the look of things won't be shiny for too much longer.
But I like biking in the snow. It's the salt and two weeks of accumulated slush that get me. And the cold. And the wind. Not a big fan of the darkness, either. Did I mention the cold?
Gah.

I like watching the cams linked at www.johndee.com.
Quite a few had snow yesterday and I saw that the forecast was for up to a foot + in areas!
Wax 'em up!

Same here. The hail was bouncing off our skylights for a couple of hours before lunch. Pea sized.

i made it 14 miles. 26mph constant and 40+mph wind gusts with the snow against my poor face in the middle of the cornfields didnt work out too well:(

Today was the average temp or Dec 12th!!!! I have been switching workouts to running. It is not even close to cycling in my book. It is more like work. I started a 5 mile run at 7:30. Cool and windy but sunny. I finish my run, go to change and when I come out it looks like a blizzard!!
I am ready to put the Bike Friday in the travel case and go somewhere warm myself!
I need to get in a few more good rides before making the complete transition to running and then to spin classes and the trainer. I long for the summer days when it was 100 and fricken hottt!!!!!

I need better gloves. At the end of my quick little 20k ride this morning, my fingers hurt. Other than that, I like 30 degrees for riding. It's invigorating.
Ummm.....pics please?
Here are a couple of really poor pictures, sorry, it's late and I don't have proper lighting.

It's a 2007 Trek Portland, full 105 with BB-7 disc brakes.
It has a 10w HID headlight and LED tail lights - Eggbeater SL pedals
I ride 8.8 miles each way to work and carry a laptop, folders, clothes, and shoes, along with all requisit spare tube, patch kit and multitool. It passed its maiden voyage with flying colors!

As long as the Wabash hasn't come all the way over River Road then all is well in Laffalot.
