What can I say, I am hooked, this whole commuting thing has me going a mile a minute about the benefits. So I had to break down and get me a new rig.

Well It was a rough night tonight. Got everything torn down to the bare frame and cleaned her up, lots of rust to be found, but only surface to speak of. But it worked out to be nothing a little wire brusing couldnt fix. Some grease here and anti sieze on the bolts and it is coming together nicely. Now I just need a Crankset, seatpost, shifters, brake levers, and a chain and she is ready to go. I knew keeping all those older parts would come in handy one day, especially keeping a extra set of beater rims around.

So does anyone have some stickers they can send me so I can make this thing undesirable to everyone except me?

Forget the stickers, just rattlecan it hot pink!! No self respecting thief will risk being caught stealing a hot pink beater bike. If they did, and word got out while they were in jail... well, then they'd find out why they call it the "pokey" and truely understand the meaning of "hard time". ;)

heh, its funny you say that because I have a box of leftover paint from projects passed and I was just going to go crazy the next weekend I have off. The cool thing is that I am almost done putting it together I just need a few more things before I can get it on the road. Anyone have a crankset they are willing to part with for dirt cheap?

the funny thing is that the first thing my wife said when I put it on the workstand was "Damn that thing is ugly"

on a side note, I now know how to rebuild shifters...

A mile a minute? That's fast. That's like, well, 60 mph. :)

Nice bike!

Just kidding, although it does feel like it is taking forever to get paid. I want to get the rest of this stuff ordered so I can start my early morning ride to work. But for now I have a BMX bike sitting on the workstand. I am in the process of building that up too. So yeah payday cant get here fast enough.
