Wouldn't that be something...it'd be kinda cool to see him pull out either a dominating win, or get dropped like a fat kid on a huffy. No pack finishes.

Although Italy dropped the case, couldn't the UCI still deny him from racing if THEY do not drop the case?

The UCI (or pat mcquaid) seemed to come down pretty strongly that they would make efforts not to allow Ulle to race. They don't seem to have such a strong opinion about Basso, but if they didn't want him to race, they certainly have a lot of leverage to do so.

The USOC covered up postive tests for Carl Lewis and other US Athletes for years, just becuase the Italian cycling federation clears him, doesnt mean he can race.
The Italian cycling federation is made up of former pro racers im sure, doping begets more doping, and the circle continues.
Eddy Mazzolini was suspended a few years ago becuase the cops had him on a wire tap talking to his doctor, asking if he would be ok to race sunday after injecting X number of IU's of EPO, he was also talking about how he could get more drugs into the country. He Mentioned that his Girl Friend was coming to vist, and maybe could help. His GF at the time, and now wife, Is Ivan Bassos sister...
