Hey all...

I plan to swap out my 1.5" slick tire for a 1.75" knobby tire, in anticipation of winter. However, I'm worried that since the rim is pretty narrow, that the 1.75" tire may flop side-to-side and introduce some instability. The rims are Alex DA16, and are designed for 1.5" tires. Will doing this have adverse effect that I am anticipating? Thanks for your insight...

Contact Alex to be safe. Have seen posts about rim failure do to running the wrong tire width.

I run 2.125 tires on 1.75 rims on all of my rental crusiers. I also have 23mm tires on 18mm rims. You're not that much wider then the rim. You can do it with no problems.
