Hola,

Am cruising ebay for an Ideale saddle for my Peugeot PR10. Totally confused by the model numbers as most of the saddles look more or less the same to me. Does anyone know the difference between 39, 42, 70, 80, 90? I speak french and have even googled in francophone sites but nothin' doin'. Merde!

merci,
Hannah

90 was the top, there were versions of it as well, same basic shape but some had pretreatment to soften and some came with special alloy rails, very late even had a ti rail option.
The 80 was below that, came black and or natural, some had chrome rails some with black painted, a French Brooks B-17 perhaps.
70 and 39 were again below the top two, 39 was the budget model.
42 I do not know, Ideale made a range of saddles, for many diverse uses. 92 was also a quality saddle, a bit wider than the 90, also came in a D version, dame.

I have a pair of #42 saddles on different bikes. I'd say its a B-17 equivalant.

This won't be a great help, but you might find it interesting.

I ride a 39 on my Peugeot and it has been great. It is basic black, and a quite worn, but it is very comfortable and light enough for my needs. The 90's are VERY nice, but these mid level ones can be very cheap and good enough for most purposes.

The link posted by USAZorro shows that the Ideale 200-2004 had a Rislan top. What's Rislan? I always thought my 2001 was genuine leather over genuine plastic.
