I tested a Bianchi Fremont yesterday. The bike store had just gotten it in. It was a pretty interesting fixed-gear bike, very, very light. The guy at the store told me it's about 16 pounds (it's got aluminium frame and carbon forks). The only thing I didn't really dig in that bike was that it felt more like a road bike than a track bike. It's 700$.And the handle bars were classic road bike's ones. I think with some track handlebars and just one brake lever it'd look great. I loved the color too. http://www.bianchiusa.com/07_b4p_fremont.html

Fremont (the city) sucks.

16 pounds? With all that ***** componentry on it? Wow.

Something to look into.

Sounds just like what I am looking for (as I noted in a different thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=232095)where this bike was shown)! This and the new Masi.
How is the BB height/crank length or more practically the pedal strike clearance - does it have a road bike geo all around?

Well, look at the geometry of it; that is a roadbike, just re-done as a SS bike. I suppose this is Bianchi's answer to the Langster. It does look nice.

That's what I'm saying. Take off all the cheap components, and replace with super light ones, you could arguably drop 6 pounds. Which seems to me impossible.

$700? For no-name everything on an AL frame? A bit much for me.

It does have a road geo all around it. I think a Pista with a few better components (pedals, saddle...) would still be cheaper that the fremont. The bike did feel very very light, although 16 pounds seemed a bit too light. It's probably more like 18... The pista felt a lot faster than the fremont too.
