I have had the pleasure or meeting & riding with Dr. Breedlove many years ago before his death. Never met his wife but he was the most down to earth & nicest person you could ever meet.
I don't know what to think about this latest ordeal surrounding his death. Maybe there is something to it, maybe not.

I dont know what to think either.
One side says.
"The driver of that truck said he saw Breedlove slump over the wheel of his bike shortly before crossing into his path. Witnesses said Breedlove's bike veered over the centerline as it headed east and that he had appeared to slump down on his bike before a vehicle hit him."
The other side says
It couldn't be that her husband was at fault.
My mind wants to know why Gretchen Breedlove Pursued the matter when there were multiple wittneses?
What was it that she saw that made her certain.
What did the private investigation reveal?
Is there more info available?
Who were the multiple witnesses and what was there motive for lying?

There was an article about this in Outside recently. The one thing that really bothered me was the statement from a friend of Breedlove's about his "safety" on the roads. According to the friend, Breedlove always rode within 4-5 inches of the edge of the road. If I wanted to speculate about possible causes for Breedlove to be swerving across the roadway when he supposedly had plenty of rest the night before and had cycled so many thousands of miles, I'd guess that he hit something (pothole, rock, animal, etc.) or went off the edge of the road and lost control then swerved back into the road and into the oncoming truck. Makes even more sense if you add in riding on aerobars which reduce the amount of control one has over the bike. Of course, this is all me speculating but 4-5 inches doesn't leave much room for error so it is a possible scenario in my mind.
Experienced cyclist swerves great distance into path of 15yr old unlicensed driver who is giving him sufficient room while overtaking
Inexperienced, unlicensed 15yr old driver misjudges position vis-a-vis experienced cyclist and does not give sufficient room to experienced cyclist, who might have to swerve to avoid obstacle in his path, when overtaking him
Speculative scenarios

That kinda falls apart when we consider the multiple wittnesses.
