Hi,

I am a new to street bikes and my local bike store sells Marinoni bikes and wanted to get a reality check. They are selling Marinoni Ciclo with 105 group for $1900 is that reasonable? I have no way to get a baseline as no other lbs sell them... Also the sales guy said Marinoni's are hand made and amazing bikes.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

$1900 sounds a little high for a 105 bike with a TIG welded frame. I'd expect Ultegra for that price.

Is that $1900 Canadian? Then maybe, but it does sound a little high. He is right about Marinoni's being nice. I have a early 90's lugged (SLX) Marinoni that I love.

Sounds like you got quoted very close to CDN list price. I just bought a ciclo, but with the Campy. Marinoni is the Canadian Distributor for Campagnolo, hence their std spec on the ciclo is Campy. They may not get a great price on Shimano groupo's.

The frame is extaordinary ! Very very comfortable. I have the stock geometry, but got to pick my own paint. For '07 the paint options have changed, and so have the decals. Some of the model names have changed as well.

For a hand built Columbus-tubed frame from north america, I think they're great value. Lots of nice touches: chromed chainstay and dropout, pump peg on headtube, rack eyelets, carbon fork with fender eyelet, the chainstay bridge is threaded for a fender bolt too. The ciclo is a proven favourite of the Audex/Rando circles. I can't wait to get some long country miles on mine this summer.
