She likes to jump the gun so she can brag about being the first to start the thread for ride reports - :p

In that case, I'm guessing she'll start a thread tomorrow for the Stagecoach Century 2007 Report or something . . . :p

Looking forward to the reports myself!

All I'm gonna say is that its darned hard to ride in 300mph headwinds AND, its hard to stay upright with the same winds as crosswinds  I am never getting any of those flat spoked wheels, that's for sure! However, after we changed directions and were no longer in the headwinds, it was a fabulous ride! I had no idea the north side of 10 had such beautiful scenery.... it was very great :D

I got to meet DaveSANYZ and met up w/him, Jason, Melissa, Matt, Caligurl, SirLance, and VMC for food afterwards along with a stop at cold stone... YUMMY!!! Jason, however, looked as if he was going to fall asleep in his food :p and I'm very glad Dave was driving!

Thank you SirLance for the SAG detail... even though I'm bummed you didn't get to ride, it was nice to know you'd come find us if we didn't show up!

More later... gotta take a shower

I had a great time riding with everyone today. The crosswinds and headwinds truly sucked at the beginning. We did under 11 MPH average for the first hour on essentially flat terrain. I never thought I'd be so proud to help pull a paceline at 9.x MPH. :o But that's the speed we settled into in the headwinds, though we did manage an amazing 10.x MPH on a slight downhill. :p Of course, once we turned so that the wind was to our backs, speeds picked up dramatically.

The first SAG stop couldn't come soon enough. Having not eaten breakfast and having fought the wind so hard (and probably also just catching up on eating from yesterday), I was happy to stand there and keep shoving food in my mouth for a really long time. The riding between the first and second stops was great. Some rolling terrain, plenty of tailwinds, and very few cars. Just nice long stretches of road going by at rather high speeds. Though poor mateo hit a pothole and double flatted. :(

The home stretch put us back in urban riding with some headwinds. But whatever... it was no big deal. (Easy for me to say, though. mateo pulled for much of the time in this final stretch.) The ride was a fun ride, though I wish the wind was a bit milder. It was nice to join everybody for lunch afterward.

caligurl must be related to the Energizer bunny. She gave us quite a few long steady pulls. And at the end, she seemed ready (physically, if not mentally) to go at it again. mateo and mel are improving incredibly quickly. Especially when fighting the wind, mateo sometimes left all of us behind. (Note to self: If windy, seek out mateo and let him lead the way!) And mel blew right by me on some of the early climbs. And when I occasionally stretched my legs on nice fun stretches of road, when I looked back, more often than not, mel was the one leading the charge. DaveSANYYZ seems to have his distance riding and nutrition much better sorted out. He's a much more consistent rider than he was even 6 weeks ago, not fading as the ride went. Tracy and VMC made rather good time for not having a larger group to help share the work in fighting the headwinds. Tracy did great out there. Great job, everyone.

Got back right at noon and waited until 12:30, but didn't see anybody I recognised from various photo sets posted here. Did meet Jason and Dave (?) in the parking lot for a bit before the start, but they were the only ones from BF.

Took me 4 1/2 hours exactly. The first 8 or 10 miles were a suffer-fest as others have said (strong headwind, uphill, brutal), but the back side was great. Really liked the rollers back there. My computer said it was 67.8 miles, so a bit over a metric.

Sea Green Sky, it was nice meeting you in the parking lot. Yup, that was Dave you met. He was nice enough to drive today to afford me a bit more sleep on the way there. Sorry... I thought you had already met everyone else since they were parked closer to the registration desk, and thus I didn't point them out. :(

Guys, something I really love about this forum is the sharing of pictures. Thank you and keep 'em coming! I'm buying a camera this week to contribute as well. I think since we are all avid cyclists that we enjoy seeing the photos knowing we will be or have been on a ride in a particular area. Just adds to the overall experience! :)

I'm a bit more awake now that lunch has been digested. Though I'm still feeling way too lazy to do any of the stuff that I should do. Namely (in no particular order) refill my gas tank, clean the bike, do laundry, eat dinner, get the mail from the mailbox. I think all of those except eat dinner can wait until tomorrow. I think I'll just keep sitting here.

Yeah, it must have been hard on Sir-Lanceimnot watching us on that section and not riding himself. Those two roads were a blast. Tailwind-assisted speed, rollers to keep life interesting, and some nice scenery. Not huge speeds, mind you (hit a top speed of 36 MPH today), but very high average speeds.

This is a fun ride. It's nice to meet Tracy and VMC, and nice to see the rest of you again.

Woke up at 3:30am to prep for the bike ride and picked up Jason at 4:30. It was ~6:30am that we arrived before the ride starts at 7:30. This is my first ride with all you BF folks that no one needed to significantly wait for me to catch up. :o Jason also pulled us through a large portion of the ride, even though he did the 98 miles "Baldy Challenge" the day before.

Most of the pics that I took didn't turn out that well, namely because I was almost always at the end of the pack, so all my shots are butt shots. :p Here are two pics that turned somewhat ok, and don't overlap the ones already posted.
