In case anybody noticed I was not here as much as I might normally be over the weekend, it is because I spent the weekend with my grandfather.
My grandparents are getting pretty old. Grandpa just turned 80 a few months ago and he's not always doing so well (two strokes and a heart attack last year, one or two hospital visits this year). The poor guy is the patriarch of our family and probably won't be around much longer. He's just sort of in that waiting around to die frame of mind. I hope when he does go, he'll go quick and peacefully.
His wife, my grandmother is out of town for the weekend as my brother is taking her to North Carolina for a sort of impromptu reunion with her sisters. My grandmother (81) is has kind of been in beginning stages of Alzheimer's for a few years and probably in another few won't be able to really remember much or appreciate a reunion with her sisters like that, so my brother really wanted to make sure she got to go. I'm glad grandma got to go too.
Since grandpa really can't be left by himself, I went up to stay with him over the weekend. All went relatively well.....my cousin was also there, and I think her crying 7 month old was getting to him....I did remind her that he probably hasn't had a baby in the house (for any length of time) in about 50-60 years, so cut him some slack.
Anyway.....not sure what I wanted to say....just ranting a bit I guess.
