Mountain Biking - Okay, now that a few of you own them, how about some reports on ...

... the Santa Cruz Blur? Thus far, I've only seen pictures and read some very basic reviews. So ............ for those of you lucky enough to have procured one of these machines, please share! I'm very interested in the following regarding this new machine:

Race:
Is this a XC race capable machine?

Weight:
Have you weighed it? If so, please share your results along with your basic bike configuration.

Downhill:
How does it travel downhill compared to other scoots you've owned?

OK, I'll bite.

XC Race capable?

Yes, but on any sort of smooth course I'd grab my NRS first. I think the Blur will flat out move over most sorts of terrain, but the NRS suspension is hard to beat in terms of efficiency. I plan on doing some Local and some Colorado races with the Blur, so we will see.

Weight?

25.6 Bike is set up with a Marz. Marathon S 100, 9.0 sl shifters and rear mech, xtr front. Race Face Turbine lp Isis cranks, Race Face Sig. XS ti bb. Hayes hydro disc brakes, Mavic Crossmax disc wheels, Python tubeless tires, King HS, Thomson post/stem, Easton carbon flat bar, titec micro b-ends and a Giro Nisene Ti CP saddle.

Downhill?

It is definitely the most stable downhill platform I've been on.

So far I have found very little to dislike. It is still relatively new though. Overall I think that this is a great trail bike, one that I can happily spend hours aboard, riding tasty, technical terrain.

I've test ridden the Blur and the Superlight (I don't own either one), and I think the Superlight had less bobbing. I also like how the SL looks. Just a quick 2 cents.
