Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Suicide hub questions

I have been riding a Schwinn Traveler conversion for a few months and I have got a suicide hub on it, no lockring, just loc tite. Is there a lockring that will work for me or I am stuck with loc tite? I am not sure if there are enough threads to have a ring though. I think it is the original wheels and hub. Has anybody ever broken a loc tite suicide hub before?

Any thoughts??

I had no problem running suicide for a long time. jb weld it if you're worried

you can use a lockring from a bottom bracket.
it's imperfect but if you get it tight enough it'll be fine.
it's very hard to defeat loctite, but possible. adding BB lockring is best.

If you can get 3 or 4 full turns of a bottom bracket locking on it then you should be fine. But in general, if you are running a hub with no lockring, use Jbweld or actually weld your cog to your hub. Keep in mind that this setup is not ment to last and will break in the near future.


loctite is not the duct tape of fixies.

If it has stayed on for a couple of months, it should last indefinitely. Maybe not if you skid, and I def. wouldn't ride brakeless w/ a suicide hub. Otherwise, don't sweat it. If it comes off, clean the threads and combine loctite w/rotafixa, then add a BB lockring and more loctite for good measure:)

gorilla glue is a polyurethane glue, I'm not so sure it would work well. While there will be no creep, I think cyanoacrylate glues have a much stronger bond. Poly's are great because of the longer curing times and the coverage you get. However, If I remember correctly, poly's don't work well with shearing forces.

Has anyone tried PC-11 yet? last time I checked that **** was bulletproof (with a liberal amount on there).

Go old school and do it with hyde glue.
