Introductions - Back to bicycling after 30 year layoff

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone! I live in Bossier City ,La. and have recently started riding again for fitness and fun. Im 45 now and have been riding since July. Ive got my weight down from 220 to 205 and still losing. At present, im riding the walmart denali roadbike but I will upgrade as I get my weight down. I will be looking to upgrade within the next 6 months hopefully and would appreciate suggestions on good quality roadbikes for a $1000 or less.

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll find the info ypu are looking for on the Road Forum, bit were me... I'd look at Trek, Specialized or Giant for their entry or a bit above roadies, they fall well within the price range you listed.

Find a quiality bike shop near you with helpful staff, and buy whatever brand they sell. This, and fitting the bike to you, are the most important things. Keep riding and enjoy!
Feels good to be back doesn't it. Look at a couple bike shops. Whatever you buy, you will want to upgrade again eventually.
