Introductions - Hi from Woodinville, WA

Hello all! I've been riding off and on for years, and I'm currently on my 3rd road bike. It's a Davidson Stiletto from the shop down in Pike Place Market in Seattle. It's got a steel frame (hence my moniker), Cinelli handlebar and stem, and the rest is Campy. At least it was until a couple weeks ago when I got a Campy 10-speed cassete, which wouldn't fit on the original wheels. So I was forced to get an FSA RD-400 wheel set :D.

I do most of my riding on the Sammamish River/Burke Gilman and Centennial trails, with side trips to vary the rides.

Like your style. PNW seems like biking heaven to a southerner like myself. Enjoy the forums and post us a picture of your bike. Directions are in one of the subforums. Can't remember which one now but I'm sure you can find it.

Welcome to the forums. I'm up in the Millcreek area and ride Burke whenever I can. I've also been in that shop that you speak of, they have a wonderful range of Orbea's.

Welcome! I, too, am just a little bit north of you in the Mill Creek area and enjoy going down to Bothell Landing and riding the Sammamish down to Marymoor. My favorite is the Centennial insofar as it is less crowded than the Sammamish and doesn't have nearly so many tree roots making humps in the trail! I hope that when the widening of Highway 9 is done, that it has marked bike lanes on each shoulder.

The Centennial is really wonderful compared to the BG and SRT. I haven't ridden it in a while though. I understand they completed quite a bit of new section in the past couple of years.

The Centennial is now 17.3 miles, end to end, from the downtown Snohomish trailhead up to the north trailhead south of Arlington. There is talk of continuing to extend it further north. Come the day, I say!

You're certainly right about the tree roots, there're not bad from Kenmore to Marymoor but going towards the Udub sometimes feels like riding cobblestones!

I know someone who hit a tree root at around 20MPH in Kenmore. She knows this because she was glancing at her computer at the time and saw that it registered 20. She probably should not have been doing that. At anyrate, the crash was pretty horrific and messed her up for about a year. The bike was a loss. Luckily she didn't have to pay for it... it belonged to the bike shop and she was the girlfriend (now wife) of one of the owners. Be careful on those MUPs... especially the older sections of the BG. The shadows and transitions from dark to light from the overhangs can mask the surface conditions even in the brightest of days.
