I could see it if it was hooked to a roadie but seeing it is attached to a cruiser then the point is seems moot to carry a bike

like you said, gotta get to the trails somehow.....I would just ride one bike to the trails, then ride the trails, then ride home... to each their own.

Maybe I am having mental issues I think the setup is cool. IMHO with the weight of the free radical and the wood platform all connected.To a bike with the same gearing as the MTB that it is designed to carry. The cruiser has the same wheel diameter as the MTB.I don't see were you would be ahead by just riding the MTB. I see if the rig was connected to a roadie. Which has bigger wheel diameters plus skinny tyres and larger gearing. I do have to give him mad props for the rig I know I couldn't accomplish something like that. It sure puts my birdhouse to shame I made in Senior woodshop

It can serve it's purpose well.
Which if nothing else will allow the expensive soft rubber tires to last longer. Soft knobbies wear way too quick on the road. Nice bike hauler, I like it!

The reasons for this fine accessory.
1. I had nothing else to do
2. It confuses people(especially my neighbors)
3. It amused me for 1/2 hour
3. Mountain bike tires are expensive and that soft rubber wears off quick on the road.
4. Dual susp mtn bikes are not as much fun to pedal on the road.
5. Gas is expensive and running out.
Of course, it's totally impractical in every way on this bike, but that's not the point.
I do plan on putting the rack on a new top secret xtracycle I am building up and this one will be made for speed. Cap forest is a 20 minute drive from my house. I do eventually plan on biking there, riding, then biking back. There is a chap who lives close that I can park my bike at while I'm riding.. stay tuned...

Great, fun idea.
Gives me some inspiration: Often thought it would be fun to do a cross-state road ride to visit my son; but when I got there, of course, I'd want to go mountain biking with him. How to both ride and transport my off-road rig? Viola!

Hmm. Looks like there is plenty of room for another bike on the other side.
I was actually wondering a while back how big a freeride rig would have to be in order to be faster on the road loaded on a trailer behind a road bike...tire size is obviously a bigger factor than weight here.

I learned something today I never owned knobbies before got some from my neighbor for riding on a trail last weekend and I road to the trail on my MTB. Good thing I only was on the tarmac for a short time with the knobbies
