Hey Lala! I'm here! I think I'm going to go check this out! Now, do I ride to it or not? Guess I need to give my ice bike the once over before the season really kicks in for its use. ;) Of course, I'm new to the Denver are and have no idea where this place is.

It's down there just east of I-25 and I-70. I'm not sure how you'd do it on a bike.
But I'd doubt I'll go... I'm in the springs. I just hate driving up there.

Is it snowing down there ?? We got a couple inches so far.

Dave, thanks for the info. We only have a couple of inches on the ground here in Aurora.

Hey, Zin! How long have been been here? The Swap is right downtown. No resaon not to ride, only 12 miles or so for Aurora. Have you picked up the Denver area bike trails and routes map?

The weather most likely will be fine. We got @ 6-7" last night, but no sun yet, so more may come down.

Hi Lala! I've been here for about a month. I do have the trails map. I've also ridden the CCT up to REI and also the Platte Trail from Littleton up to REI. So, I can find my way downtown with ease. :)

Besides, if I ride there. I won't be so inclined to buy a bunch of stuff that I don't need. ;)

Very true! Actually, I believe the Western Complex is pretty close to REI. A belated welcome! You'll have to come down and check out the Velodrome.

Where is the Volodrome? I'd love to see it.

Well, it's closed for the season but check here for somewhat outdated info:

It's close to downtown CoS.

They hardly use the thing...it sits there like a useless knick-knack on a shelf most
all the time. Pleasant to look at as you drive by but...

Why the heck don't they use it in the fall/winter ?? we have 60 degree weather
in the fall most of the time and winter too.. / rant :)

I am pondering taking my 3 year old and riding down from thornton. However, most of the money I had stashed has been used to fix my incessant cycling issues this month. :(
Perhaps, I will scrounge up a bit of money. After all it is for the kid. ;) Being that he likes bikes and all. he he

The Western Complex is north of Downtown, but the Platte River trail goes right by there. Get off after passing under 38th and you'll be next to Pepsi, take a left, and you can ride around and pass under I-70 to the Western Complex.

Not sure if I'll make it, but if I do, it'll be by bike. :) I work across the street from Pepsi, so I ride the route every day.

Were you the one getting arrested by pepsi this morning? :p
j/k
I was heading south on the platte and passed two cruisers parked on the trail before it dips down under 38th. The officers were busily arresting someone. It's so much fun carrying a bike along side the trail next to the trees to get around them.

Heh. Not me. :p

I get passed by cops on the trail fairly regularly, but only if they're goin' the other direction. About 2/3rds of the time they're in cars, not on bikes. It's interesting to come around the corner on a bike path and see a cop car coming towards you on the path. They're always really good about getting out of the way, though.

I've had that happen a few times in that location. It never fails to puzzle me all of the sudden seeing a cruiser on a bike path heading my direction. :p

A friend of ours will be in Denver to sell at Veloswap. So we are going to drive over from the western slope to help him out. I've never been to veloswap before. We might bring a few things to sell. I don't have anything in mind that I really need to buy, but I might see something I can't live without.

I see Subaru is sponsoring. We will be driving my 1991 Subaru Legacy. It's a good car....

I am headed to veloswap for the first time this year and am wondering what kind of deals I can anticipate. I am in the market for a specific new bike that I have in mind and perhaps a new winter jacket. It seems reasonable to believe that there will be a diverse selection of bargains in a free-for-all mad-house environment (especially in the am). Can any veloswap veterans help prime my expectations? Curious. See ya’ll there!

I went last year, and the clothing stuff was great deals, but the bikes were (at least, in the afternoon) mostly used bikes that people wanted too much for. The AM and Friday night will definitely be a mad house with all the bargains and deals going quickly....

I showed up for a couple hrs this morning. My son had a cold and made the trip a bit unenjoyable. Oh well.
It appeared to be decent for parts, so so for clothing, and worthless for tools. Guess what I need? Tools. Duh. Like anyone ever sells tools. Anyhow, it was interesting while the kid was not cranky.

just got back -- it was aiight. I didn't need anything but it was fun to see all the bikes and frames and parts and clothes I don't need....

It's also nice to be around so many skinny folks. :p
I went and visited performance afterwards and picked up the tools I needed.
