Has anyone with a Polar S120 (or similar) heart rate monitor been able to get the Recovery function to work?

Theoretically, in order for that to kick in, you have to press & hold the red button on the face of the wrist unit. If you press the same button quickly, it records a lap.

I've tried many times to actuate the Recovery timer, but it records a lap nearly every time instead, no matter how hard I press the darn button. Would be nice if it was more reliable in that regard. The only two times that the Recovery thing has worked, I was running.

Any thoughts? It's rather frustrating and I think that it skews my overall average a bit if I use the second lap as recovery time.

You have to press stop first, then the red button...

Thanks. I guess I stumbled onto it a couple of times without realizing it. :) Boy, do I feel silly now. I didn't think it was very clear in the manual.

Ok. I tried one more time during my workout last night. I hit the stop button first, then pressed the red button and the darn thing STILL registered a lap instead of bringing up the Recovery segment. :crash:

Do I have a faulty unit? Should I call Polar about this?

This is getting really frustrating!

I have an Xt, not the same model
but what I noticed is that I really have to
press, and hold the red button down to get into
Recovery mode.
My only complaint about the polar is the buttons,
they are sometimes hard to work after a long
ride or workout.
I'm thinking of a 520 next. . .
