It was dry when I rode into work, but it snowed all day. It was very wet, with a little accumulation. I had my wife take some pics when I got home from the 8-mile ride. In anticipation, I rode the old beater mountain bike.

It was a nice warm ride in the morning and snowed\rained all day.
My wet weather clothing needs a bit of work. Anyhow, my base layers were dry when I arrived at home. Still, it was a tad exhausting. Consequently, I took my first skip day of the cool weather season and took the family car to work. *gasp*
The irritating thing was my brilliant wife arranged to have me pick up our 3 year old in the trailer. 34 degrees with rain and snow. WTH! I refused and his grandfather dropped him off.
I knew my wife going full time would do this. ugh

Same thing down here in Aurora. Only about 2 inches on the lawns this morning.

Yup, the first real snow of the season--6-7". I'm now in Co Springs, I'll bet Monument got more. I'm really not ready, yet. I was surprised at all the ice on the roads.

Yeah the snow kicked my behind last night. I didn't have fenders on so my small chain rings were all gooped up with slush... sort of got stuck in a low gear. It was a slow ride home. Also my headlight managed to burn out. I still enjoyed it.

I had the same thing happen to my chainrings. No fenders either. I had to downshift to keep the chain taut, and then I could pedal. I was within 2 miles of home, so I didn't bother stopping to clean things off.

Another snow here in CO last night. This one was even more pathetic.

I got soaked again this week, this time on the way to work. Again, I was riding in slush. That's twice in a week. I don't think that happened twice all last year. Either give me some packed snow, or don't snow at all.

I made it about 7 miles in the slop. Then I got buzzed, went down and bent the crank on my bike. Took the bus the rest of the way. The good news is that a few good whacks from a hammer and the crank is almost as good as new.

Do they keep those excellent Denver trails plowed? Over the summer, I rode on the Platte River trail and the Cherry Creek trail. Nice! We have some smaller trails here, and they keep them clean of snow.

i rode in this last thursday. i every morning commute from about mulberry and shields down to loveland, straight down shields about 15 miles.

it killed my freewheel hub dead. i've never seen my bike as caked in slush as it was. hub was grinding afterwards to i took it to lees and they were like "yeah dont put any more money in this wheel, its fried."

anyway the worst part was that every car that passed basically threw a huge bucket of grimly slush all over me. i was plretty well layered, and i was grateful to have ski gloves that had the little squeegee thing on the back of them to wipe off my goggles from time to time. only problem was my feet, which were covered with some PI neoprene booties, still managed to get soaked absolutely to the bone.

inspired me to bite the bullet and pick up some Lake bike boots, and a Northface Vortex 3-1 jacket, which i used this morning in the supercold and was very pleased by. no idea if they're actualyl as waterproof as they're supposed to be, but they fit better and stayed warmer than booties over shoes. and the jacket is like wearing a hug.
