I'm thinking of buying a used 2001 MANITOU BLACK 80/100 off someone. He's asking $175. Is it worth that much?
Also he said it had a soft and medium spring upgrade, but that means squat to me.

$175 is a nice price for a fork, but in your shoes I would try to stay away from Manitou forks in general. Bike shops send more manitou forks back to the factory than anything else.

But like I said, you won't do much better for $175 on a new fork. How used is this one?

might be able to pick up a used xvert or a used sid for 100 bucks if you look around.

Nevermind, someone else on my listserve is selling a 2002 Fox Vanilla RL w/ 80-125mm travel for $200 lightly used. I think I'm gonna try to get the fox if he hasn't already sold it!
