So I want something to throw into my bag for use with Schrader valve tubes. Cheap, effective, and durable. Whatchy'all recommend?

I have a hurricane hp micro, @ performance bike. It was 9 dollars. Worked great for me.

I have one I found on a old huffy.
I have to say it must be the best thing they ever made, because I've tried quality pumps and they are exactly the same.

I like the CO2 inflators for trailside repairs. Easier to carry than a pump

so... i was looking at the co2 ones. how many of the little co2 canisters do you need to fill up a tire?

it takes 2 of the BB gun size ... but you can make it home on 1 ... I use a 2.1 tire 1 cart puts about 20lbs of pressure in.
don't think I'd want a big air, the ones I use if you puncture the cylinder it will eventually leak out. I'd get one for the non threaded cartridges they are super cheap.

Unless, of course, you get a second flat. In which case you need to rely on that pump...oh, wait! It's at home! Walkies!

my $0.02: co2 is great for speed and ease and convenience, but useless if you get caught without the cartridge, so some people have both, they also make a pump that does both but i don't know how good the hand pump side is. i use a blackburn mammoth, i don't think it's as good as a topeak morph, but they were on sale for less than 50% of the topeak. the mammoth has pumped up about 6 flats in the past year and did just fine. the price thing won for me because i rarely use it, i have a really nice floor pump at home. i kinda want one of those pumps with the little hose that connects to your valve so i don't risk tearing the valve stem off. oh if you go for a topeak, there's a mountain morph and road morph, both will work for either, but the mountain one is better at pushing more volume per pump, but a lot tougher at higher pressures. the road morph is better at higher pressures but would take a lot more pumps to fill up an mtb tire.
