Ready to go!!!
For the record, Robb has decided (aka pussed out) to ride a regular "multi-speed" bike for this race. I reluctantly borrowed a free wheel cog and brake from him to put on my bike for the race...but I'll still be doing this ride with only one gear. Doanations for my knee surgery would be much appreciated.

Hey I think there's going to be a race in Gainesville on the 8th of December. I've heard talk of it being a photo-scavenger hunt, but it's still in the 'conception' phase. Prizes will possibly (no promises) include a custom frame and a messenger bag. (Sorry Tallahassee, we're unoriginal.) Mark your calendars! We hope to see you there!

Robb, do you have the paper that was in the race packet saying what the website was for the pictures?

No qualms. Some ATL races have utilized our creativity for checkpoints. If this goes down, make sure we hear about it.

Robb... I honestly thought you died coming back from Tally. Then I saw your PM you gave me. Did you guys make it up there?
Ashland is the worst town in the world when it comes to getting on a computer. The University Library here is the only place with computers for the public, and they only have 3 ****ing computers that work. Damn the hippies. I'm coming back friday though. Lets do a ride?
Todd is damn sexy in that helmet. I bet all the middle aged women were happy :D. <3
Any pictures of you Robb?

What's up Luke? Good to see you're still alive. I may be on the East Coast surfing Friday through Sunday, but if not, I'm in for a ride for sure.
Nice...only fair that you post some of yourself now Robb...

This coming weekend i'm going to Jacksonville for that race.
Someone come with me!
sinkFLsink
11-26-06, 08:08 PM
I may be up for that. Luke, are you in town this week?
DoshKel
11-26-06, 10:24 PM
Yup. I moved back Friday. I'll be here till Feb. 3rd.
I'm gonna try and get a car for the drive there. So, I probably can take you, Robb, Peggy, Scotty or whoever else wants to come.
I would be so down for this.

Well, lets talk this out and figure out what's going on and who is in. Do you have any more info (website) on this race?
On a side note... I picked up a sweet circa '89 Selle San Marco white leather saddle from a LBS on my lunch hour yesterday. The Pista looks pimp now.

Hey, so I was in St. Pete last Saturday (bikeless, or else I would have told you folks) and saw a guy walking north on Central in the downtown area arorund noon with a yellow bike. Any of you? I think he had bullhorns, maybe flip n chops.
North on Central? Possibly east OR west.

11-28-06, 08:02 AM
Yeah, that was Jayme on his way to the Emerald. My bike was chained up right across from the State Theater in front of the pool hall.
Later that night, you may have seen me being chased down central by four rednecks in a van. It finally ended when they opened a door on me and sent me skidding on my elbows and knees across 28th ave.
What's all this hub-bub about Jacksonville? I'm down. I can drive if you fools throw down on gas.

Making new friends with the locals, Robb? That's sweet.
Sorry, folks, been busy. Trying to wrap up my externship. Slowly but surely there IS a light at the end of the tunnel -- as long as there isn't a van of four rednecks waiting at the end of said tunnel, that is.
Oh. Yeah. What race?
DoshKel
11-28-06, 01:34 PM
They were just jelous of Robb's manly legs.
Anyway... there was a post in this rides section about a race in Jacksonville on December 2nd, but now it is gone. I wonder if it is off. I'll call some people who know the dudes running the show, and ask them about it.
I can probably drive or throw down if it is still going on. Doesn't matter.
Todd: I want a white vintage Selle so ****ing bad. You ass. Put some pictures up somewhere.
I got a job a Chainwheel Drive today. The one in Palm Harbor. Come by and say **** you if you are in this part of the forest.

11-28-06, 01:51 PM
Sweet dude. Congrats on the job. More importantly, what kind of employee discount pricing can you throw our way? :-D
DoshKel
11-28-06, 01:52 PM
I can get you a spoke wrench for $5.
**** YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TheRobbStory
11-28-06, 01:56 PM
...what the hell's a spoke wrench?
What are you doing there? Selling outrageously priced all-carbon road bikes to affluent 45 year old Mercedes drivers?
Or are you torquing bolts? That'd be cool.
DoshKel
11-28-06, 02:00 PM
Mechanic work :D. Which I really wanted. They think i'm too gay for selling ****, so they want me to stay in the back.
Spoke wrench =/= nipple wrench. But seriously... one of the mechanics just bought an Indy Fab frame for like $800 straight from the company. Holy ****.

11-28-06, 02:27 PM
Are you serious?! Find out how! I want to build up a new road bike (no offense guys).
DoshKel
11-28-06, 02:43 PM
Road bikes are 10x better than track bikes.
But yea, I think we are involved with this company out of Ashland called UBP, and I can get wholesale + 10% if so. I'll let you know.
sinkFLsink
11-28-06, 03:58 PM
I too would love to build up a new fixed on a road frame, but don't throw my track bike under the bus there Luke...LOL.
Luke, congrats on the job. Depending on weather and if you're working on a weekend day I'll ride up the trail to see ya. Listen, find out what you can on the Jax race. I can pile everyone's bike in the back of the truck and all your a$$es in the cab for the drive up. We can watch Finding Nemo on the dvd player the whole way...lol.
Robb, sorry to hear about your red-neck encounter. That blows man. Is the bike okay? I mean, are you okay (still concerned about the bike) ?
I'll post a pic of the saddle soon. It was actually Ken at Northeast Cycles bike that it came off of. He hooked it up. It looks like the Rolls without the brass in the back and the badge on the side.

The new to me 1989 Selle San Marco Professional...
http://i13.tinypic.com/29pdk0i.jpg
It needs to be cleaned up a little.
TheRobbStory
11-28-06, 06:11 PM
Yeah, I got out alive. My left elbow and knee are pretty torn up, but at least I didn't break anything this time. Bike didn't get hurt either, apart from some ugly deep gouges on my Deda Elementi Pista drops. I hate rednecks.
sinkFLsink
11-28-06, 06:36 PM
Well, I'm glad you're alright. Sorry to hear it happened brother.
DoshKel
11-28-06, 10:31 PM
Lets go redneck hunting. We will tie them up and give them purple nurples beyond any that have been given before with previously said nipple wrenches.
Todd... that saddle is a beaut. I hope it treats your ass nicely.

11-29-06, 08:02 AM

Only makes it worse.

11-29-06, 03:09 PM
I swear to god Luke... If the next time we ride you don't have a saddle on your seat post, I'm going home.
Speaking of riding...when are we riding next?
TheRobbStory
11-29-06, 03:50 PM
Next thing we know, he'll have some pink bits on his queerbike.
I did about 40 miles last night. I could do it again tonight. I could do it all night long.

12-01-06, 06:13 PM
Man...I know where that shop is, but I never thought they carried this kind of stuff. Could be a chance to find a good amount of parts or frames to build up a classic fixed.
Sucks that we'll be in Jacksonville tomorrow. I'll be sure to contact the store and see what they have though.
Thanks for the heads up dommer!
DoshKel
12-06-06, 12:00 PM
Todd, if you don't pick up your bike, i'm selling it to my 13 year old next door neighbor.
Zen Existence
12-06-06, 03:43 PM
I'll buy it for $15 and a half-drank Coke Slurpee.
DoshKel
12-06-06, 04:14 PM
Deal!
Sorry Todd.
TheRobbStory
12-06-06, 04:58 PM
THAT WAS MY SLURPEE!!
So Luke, what happened at work? Do we need to carpet bomb it?
Zen Existence
12-06-06, 05:19 PM
Luke, please tell me you still work at Chainwheel ...
sinkFLsink
12-06-06, 06:44 PM
Sorry boys... just picked up my well tuned bike from Luke. He no longer works for Chainwheel, but I'll let him explain why if he wants.
Scotty, will you be making it out for a ride soon? Pinellas Trail ride on Saturday (afternoon sometime).
DoshKel
12-06-06, 06:54 PM
First, if you don't come out this time Scotty, you really do not exist. It will be fact. :D
Second... yea I don't work there. Basically they didn't like how I was putting their bikes (brakes specifically... which is complete folly since brakes are pretty standard) together. I was doing it the way I learned at UBI, and the Service Manager came up to me and said that I couldn't do it like this anymore, I said cool... teach me how you want me to do it, and he brought me into the office and fired me. Basically, which could complete bull**** as suggested by Todd, he said that they don't have time to train me in time for the Christmas season rush. Thats that. I'm not too stressed because if a company is super excited about hiring someone, and fires them 4 days later, I shouldn't have worked for them in the first place. Things are done, and they lost a good mechanic and previous customer.
I say we carpet bomb the sotres, and when they come running out...spoke **** all of them. With Jasco on the ends of the spokes.

Okay, *****es, I have about 100 hours of my externship left, I've done 140 out of the 240. I should be done by the first week of January. and THEN I will have a decent schedule. I will participate in Mike's G-ville ride if it kills me me.
Granted, I really don't exist, I am the channeled spirit of Koffee Brown, but that's another story ... unless you decide to hit The Castle bar, in which case my doppleganger will feed you drinks until you regurgitate in a tasteful manner.
Luke, I'll throw some cash your way to rebuild my Motobecane road ride back up. Stripped her down for parts but now I have enough to build her back up.
Back to the books ...
