I think I'm more popular in St. Pete than I am in Gainesville...
I'm going to try to bring the road bike too, so if anybody wants to put in some good, hard miles I'm probably up for that too.
Okay, so far, here's what I'm thinking - Tuesday afternoon, like 1:30ish or something? Maybe something Thursday night (though I'm not sure about that).
How's the Pinellas trail? It's like 30ish miles each way right? Anybody want to ride all the way out and back with me, and laugh when I start turning into a total baby at mile 50? Make a day of it?

So Mike, are you now saying that you're only going to be able to ride Tuesday afternoon and possibly Thursday night?
What happened to M-F 9to5?

Dude Thursday nights polo is going to start soon.
Its going to be so fun!
The trail is 48 or 49 miles end to end I believe (St. Pete to Tarpon Springs). I'm totally up for riding the whole thing! Been wanting to do it for awhile.

It says 34 miles, but you have to figure in the ride back. I've ridden from end to end many times when I had my road bike. These days I usually just ride the fixed North from my house on the trail in Largo into Dunedin and then Tarpon Springs.
Anyone riding tomorrow mid-morning afternoon?
Wait, you guys are gonna be playing polo now?
I think there has to be a small polo tourney after Fixed Fight, so set aside a prize for the winners of that.
I demand to play polo in Florida.
I'll even bring my mallet.

Mike, give me a call when you can.
I say we ride this Monday (anytime morning, noon or night). That's an easy one for me to call in on since it's right after the weekend.
So this Monday! Who's in?
DoshKel
03-09-07, 04:24 PM
I am.
And I forgot to say, I can't ride tonight either. I messed up my knee really bad last night skating. I'm gonna sit on it for a couple days so it can heal :(.

Wear whatever you want man. Lycra, regular clothing, pajamas, hotdog suit...
sinkFLsink
03-10-07, 07:15 PM
11:00 works for me.
Please...no stretchy pants.
I figure we'll just do some around town riding, maybe head out to gulfport or head west toward the beach.
DoshKel
03-10-07, 07:19 PM
And wheelies! Lots of wheelies.

mikearena
03-11-07, 06:15 PM
So 11:00 at Northeast Cycles, which is 1062 4th ST. N? Correct me if I'm wrong, or else I'm showing up at the wrong address.
See you tomorrow!
(Todd, I've got your number, so I'll give you a call if/when I get lost. Yes, I know, it is sad that I can't even figure out a grid system.)
sinkFLsink
03-11-07, 07:06 PM
That's the address. Heading North from downtown it will be on your right side. It's the corner shop in a small strip. Call me if you get lost.
so lunch and then riding is the agenda correct?
DoshKel
03-11-07, 09:26 PM
Yay!
i'll definitely be there for lunch but i might not be able to ride since i have slacked all spring break and have a bunch of school stuff due on tuesday.

I just got home from work...if the traffic didn't suck so bad at this hour, I'd load up and head down there. Too bad it would take me an hour to get there from Largo with the traffic. Next time Andrew!
i'm in class from 6-8:30 but i'd be down to meet up afterwards.

03-14-07, 12:59 PM
Why not do it at midnight, when I get out of work? It won't be hot and I will be able to play.
I'm lonely....
DoshKel
03-14-07, 01:40 PM
I would do it at Midnight. I would do it anytime really.
Water is def. a must. Money for it is no problemo.
Also... I have a kidney stone. So i'll be out tomorrow if you guys are planning to play haha. Ouch.

03-14-07, 02:15 PM
I'm probably going to jump on the trail at about 10:00 tomorrow morning. If anybody's bored and/or not playing polo, let me know if you want to join in. I'm going to do the whole thing and try to keep the speed as close to 20ish as possible.

Wish I could join you Mike...I'll assume you'll be going ala Nacho Libre, so I guess it's good I'll miss out. Anyway, good luck with keeping it at 20mph. The trail has a few parts that are long, but for the most part you'll have a lot of stop and go through intersections. Things get much better once you get through Dunedin. There are a few parts where you'll enjoy some great scenery. Keep an eye and ear open for the Ape/Monkey House.

Stops and starts! That's exactly what I was trying to avoid. Looks like I'm going to have to fly on the north part to keep my average up...
I swear Todd, one of these days, you're going to put on a pair of shorts and fall in love with your saddle all over again...

**** the trail. Seriously. 37 miles directly into the world's strongest headwind on the way back? What the hell was I thinking. And who's bright idea was it to call the sidewalk the Pinellas Trail right in the mildde of downtown Clearwater.
However, not even when I've visited my grandparents in a retirement community have I seen more retirees. As a corollary through, never have I see so many awesomely moustachioed men. Keep up the style geriatric squad!

Haha. You should see some of the wild old-man styles down here in Sarasota. The "Sarasota Lifestyle" includes wearing some real eccentric ****.
On a very unrelated note, anyone going to see The Presets and Crystal Castles in Ybor on Monday?

Haha. Oh the wonders of the Tampa bay area. Riding on the roads in Palm Harbor is a battle between the alive, and the dying. Almost daily does the driving dead almost hit me.
The whole Clearwater thing is the absolute worst. I want to kill myself everytime I hit that section.
Are you in Gainsville again Mike? I might be going up towards Tally real soon, and thought that I should stop by Gainsville. That would be awesome.

I'll be back up there probably tonight, but not able to accomodate anybody (full house, sorry!) until around Monday. Let me know when you plan on stopping in, as drinking and riding around is in order.
