I just bought a KHS XC-104 ('05 model). What does the XC stand for? Logic tells me cross country but I don't believe this is a cross country bike. Could someone enlighten this newby?

Hmm. Is this bike still suited for some hard riding, taking drops and jumps? Is seems stout enough. What's the difference between it and a no kidding mountain bike?
when did cross country start to mean not durable?

try to remember that xc is not freestlye!
While you cross the country, you'll encounter rocks, roots, small jumps, and short drops.
Sounds like you have the right bike if this is what you plan on riding.

I'm sure the bike is durable. I just want to be sure that it's suited for the way I like to ride. I'm not into mass air and doing table tops, kicks etc... I just like to ride technical trails with plenty of roots, rocks and that type of thing.
Shouldn't you have figured all this out before you bought it? The bike will be fine.

Sounds good to me. My freinds say I need clipless pedals. I have them on my road bike and would have no other way. I don't know about off road though. Suggestions?

Hmmm. Well. I rode the bike...it felt good....I liked it....so I bought it. That statements kinda like getting married. You can't figure the woman out until after you've had her awhile.
What does the XC stand for?
if you rotate the X clockwise, it'll become a +
"+" is a sign of a cross and C stands for country
so... "cross" country =P thats how i see it
