Mountain Biking - Moab, April 11th, calling all bikers...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Heya, me and a friend are riding the Poison Spider Mesa trail and the Portal Trail. Tentatively scheduled for the weekend of April 11th. I'm inviting everyone around the area to come out, i'll have more details in a day or two. Here's a link to the trails, but if you live in the area i suspect you've ridden them :D

We'll be camping that night and rock climbing the next day or so (you don't have to camp or climb, just come bike!). If anyone is interested please give me a re: in this thread. Happy trails!

sorry, didn't mean to mess up the last post

Well - being that it's six hours away and I'll be out there from the 30th of April to the 4th of May...I don't think I'll be joining you on the 12th.

Oh yeah! But, my favorite route to take is to start up top of Gemini Bridges to Gold Bar Rim to Gold Spike to Portal...

I love that warning sign:

Do you really have to dismount?

No - but when you come around the corner and see the exposure...if you're not scared into dismounting you're not human. The gets very narrow in places with WAY more than 200ft of air to the ground.

I mean it's not like there's trail police that will ticket you for staying on your bike and riding this section...

KleinMp99 - Be my guest...

It's not that it's overly technical...it's that it's very narrow with at LEAST 400ft cliff on your left...IF you manage to bobble just a wee bit...

Y O U A R E T O A S T !

Remember - It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

I need to start reading some other threads haha..

We have a few narly sections like that. So narrow there almost isn't a trail. Definately a rush :)...
