Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - conversion q's

is it very difficult to convert a roadie into a fixie/single gear?

do I just thread on a freewheel where the cassette was? (for single)

will i run into chain allignment issues?

yea, well, just use the search and 50000 threads of the same question will come up. but if u want an answer now. no it's not difficult. u might need a new rear wheel with a fixed hub. then just add the cog/lockring or freewheel. the alignment depends on the bb length. i've never had a problem with the standard bb's out right now and the 120 mm spacing in the back. u might have to use more spacers.

Summary: To go SS, you just need to thread on a BMX freewheel if it's an old-style wheel, or spacers and a cog if it is more recent. To go fixed, you will probably need a new rear wheel.

In either case, if you may need to do some parts-swapping (BB's, spacers) to get proper chainline.

Does your road bike have horizontal dropouts?

I think so, I havent taken a good look at it.
