I am short of $$ so got a XXX-mart chain tool. It's painful to grib and
I don't have to force to even move the rivet a bit. Any additional tools
I need to make screwing the chain tool handle easier? Many thanks.

Gloves or a rag will probably help with the grip. You might able to apply more force with the more comfortable grip also. I have the cheapo Park chain tool, and it can be tough to turn if the chain is dirty. Good luck.

Not to be too dismissive about your question but the "additional tool" you need is a good quality chain tool. Even if you get enough leverage to make the cheapy work, you stand a good chance of permanantly damaging the chain with a poor quality tool. Modern narrow chains are very intolerant of poor alignment during pin removal and replacement.

Cut your losses and get a better tool.

Sounds like operator error to me. Be sure you are using the tool correctly.

The pin that you are pushing out has to be completely within the slot in the bottom of the tool so that it can freely come out. If the pin is hung up anywhere on the body of the tool, it will not come out and the handle will be almost impossible to turn, which sounds like the problem you are having.

Any chain I have taken apart with my cheapo tool came apart very easily when properly aligned in the tool.
