Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - ladies' saddles

I know this has been discussed here before, but it appears to me that several new females have joined since the last discussion, so here goes:

My girlfriend needs a new saddle. The unnamed saddle on her old Lotus is very uncomfortable for her, so what do other women find comfortable? I've considered one of the Brooks' women's models, but I'm not sure if that's the way to go. You're help would be greatly appreciated.

a local shop has a damn nice white turbo womens saddle for around 30 bucks. i could try to snag it for you if you'd like.

womens turbos are not comfortable IMO

ive been riding a brooks b-17 for the past few years and i dont have many complaints unless my geometry is aggressive, then it sucks. geometry, stem and bars are important.

also, trick is to find the width that works for her. if its too narrow itll smash soft tissue. if its too wide it wont do any good either.

so ya, b17 works for me but everything has to be fine tuned. i tried the speedshe after i heard many praises but it didnt work for me.

i hear good things about terry too, but i still havent tried one.

Ive always been curious about that selle italia lady gel flow. anyone have any word?

a friend of mine got a specialized jett, and got sized at a dealer. she thinks it was well worth the $100 or so she paid for it.

i hated my b-17. hated it. even after 500 miles. i now have a brooks women's team pro and love it. after 200.

my favorite saddle for short rides is the WTB speed she. My favorite long ride saddle is no longer made but easily found- the specialized dolce pro ones with the cutout. My favorite touring/really long ride saddle is now that brooks.

I like the Terry Zero. It's flat and non-squishy, with a cutout.

Red Riding Hood gave me this piece of advice when I told her I was saddle shopping for my girlfriend.

Take her to a shop and see if they will let you ride around on smething for a little so she can see if she likes it while riding. She said some shops have a saddle loan type program where they will let you borrow one for a day and see if you like it before buying. I haven't tried this yet, Her birthday is the first week in November, and that is when she will be picking out a saddle.

I am also looking for a new saddle for my wife. She has a brooks (i forget the model, woman specific) and it is killing her. She had a terry liberator that was ok; terry seems to have some nice saddles in general for women.

I'm riding a Selle Italia Turbo on one bike, and a generic piece of crap with a cut-out on the other. The cut-out is really nice for riding in jeans/other normal pants, but with cycling shorts the Turbo is pretty good for me.

Not perfect though, so I'll probably look into something else (a Brooks, most likely) in the near future. I'll let you know if I discover anything amazing/useful.

Like ryand said, though, saddle fit is really a matter of personal preference. If she can try out a few that's probably going to be infinitely more helpful than a million folks on the internet talking about what they like.

I have discussed this before, and I still feel the same way. my terry ti butterfly is amazing.
it's dorky looking, but whatever. my biz is comfy and I'll do whatever I can to acheive that.

I usualy recomend the WTB speed she, My ex loves hers. The cover material is prone to slicing though.
They have several models from firm with ti rails to soft with steel rails.

Yeah, I've been riding one for a little over a year, and I love it on road geometry. I've done 4 hour + rides on it with no significant discomfort.
Not sure how I'd feel about it on a more upright bike, as it's not very cushioned.

WTB girl saddle is the best. It was the only thing my ex could ride. It works really well for a girl with medium to large hips. <---THE BEST KIND!!!

my mom has a ladies turbo and she hates it to all hell. She is also way skinny though.

Amen! That's what I've got on my daily ride, and I've been pleased. Especially for under $30. I have a fizik vitesse on my road bike--I'm usually good on that until about mile 24 and then I start to get a little uncomfortable.
