After my recent brush with death (and a vehicle). I rushed online and bought a brighter tailight. I was shocked at how bright this thing is (10 LEDs), and now I'm actually concerned I may momentarily blind the driver causing them to crash into me. Anyone have one of these lights? Comments?

I'm a bike commuter, I run two of these lights and my bike is covered with reflective tape and my clothes are reflective also. I have a 4" reflector on the back of my rack bag another LED light on my reflector tape covered helmet and my front light is a Halogen 25w light. Cars actually try to get completely out of my lane to pass me. Hope this helps.

LOL! Yes, this is my goal :)

BTW, I bought some reflective tape at Home Depot as well. Great stuff!

I bought a LD 1000 last year and having it back there has made me a lot more comfortable riding at night.

In my view you can't have too many lights or too much reflective stuff.

Pretty much what everybody else said...I will add that you might be overestimating the brightness of your the blinkie. I have the same light and it is bright but you have to keep it in perspective. You are sharing the road with all sorts of other lights on 12 Volt automotive systems that are likely much brighter than the 1000, and you don't even really notice them.

I employ a combination of items. I use a blinking xenon strobe, the Cateye LD 1000, a blinkie on my helmet, reflective tape and also a reflective vest. Like they said, you really can't have too much. I run two sets of headlights and also a flashing cateye headlight on the front as well. I haven't blinded anyone and haven't had a driver do anything other than give me lots of room when passing.

It won't be that bright - and if it is you'll be noticed just that much more :D

What type of reflective tape did you guys get?

You won't blind anyone. There are many owners on the forums and quite a few where I live. It's a good light. It will get brighter with Lithium batteries.

There are also brighter tailights and they work just fine too.
