Don't you just love it when the brake pads crap out. Should have been wearing the shin pads, Car pulls out in front of me, hit the brakes they wouldn't engage my choices were to pile into the vehicle, and mess myself up badly or to purposely was the rear out, I washed the rear out. I slid on my right shin for about a yard. The driver stopped and appologized. So right after that I went to LBS and got new pads and cables put on and continued my ride, which was a pretty good ride after all.
