Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - going to horns, use existing lever or by TT levers?

whats up everyone??

as mentioned the other day my SS conversion is done, fun ride with just beartrap pedals and no gears... LOVE IT!!

The only thing is , as I was afraid of! is that I needed more positive braking in the city and better contol while braking hard.

I was almost hit last night when a cager decided to to take a left hand turn at an intersection then decided to make a quick right turn and go straight at me instead. he HAD already started to turn left (I was halfway across ) he almost clipped me while They gave me the finger.

I sort of put my self down (didn't crash) I was riding the hoods but needed to lock things up which is awkward when On hoods , I put cross LEVERS ON MY GEARED CROSS CHECK JUST FOR TRAFFIC RIDING.
ANYWAY instead of chopping my 46 cm drops(save for a rainy day) Im going to order a set of TT bars from nashbar.

should I get the TT brake levers or keep my 105 aero levers (unique ,White hoods)

I've seen 'em done both ways. Both look decent, and both work fine. It's a matter of personal taste.

I say stick with what you've got, save money for stuff you need.

I prefer a TT lever. The hoods on a road lever offer so usable hand position on bullhorns and the excess bulk takes up precious room at the bar ends.

I bought the Cane Creek 200TT levers from eBay and have been very happy with the quality.

That is what happens when one is on the phone , someone is also at my desk asking about a technical application problem at the same time (industrial equipment , not computer stuff) , Im typing fast, and I hit submit without checking anything Not to mention Im an Engineer and were not known for proper penmanship anyway.

Actually, IROeunuch says dumb **** like "lolzers u r stupid", but this time he tried to play grammar police and photons told him that his grammar was incorrect. I was just "lolzers-ing" because "he iz stupid".

Carry on. Its a forum, incorrect grammar is acceptable to a point. If I can figure out what you mean, I accept it. Some posters on this forum I just skip by their posts because I can't figure them out.

Mount whatever type of lever you prefer. The cheapest answer is checking to see if you like what you already have. Good luck man, have fun.

My 105 levers are nice but , an inexpensive set of TT levers is not going to break the Bank
by any means.

just wondering what most who use Bull horns prefer, if its the TT levers Ill order a set.

I fail to see how any of that stuff is bad. That's my only objective when riding a bike. Clearly I need that bike.

I just ordered the Nash TT bar + TT levers and a roll of black grip tape, plugged-in the 10% coupon (check the coupon thread here) and got it all out-the-door for $36.

I have bullhorns on both my fix and SS and for TT levers I use the nashbar on my SS which is daily commuter and Cane Creek carbon on my fix. First of all I love the horns. Good way to stretch out when needed, ect. As for the levers I love em because they are there if needed but out of the way. Plus to the everage Joe thay look sinister and always get looks from people who know nothing of riding SS/Fixie's. But in reality it's not what I ride or like or anyone else but what you like and feel comfortable with using.

I just did the exact same thing... I really loved those bars (and brake lever) but a couple of days after putting them on I crashed and bent one of the horns:(

But the tt levers are really swell because you can apply the brake from the horns, where your hands are most of the time, I presume.

if you cant get a tt lever, just put a cross interrupter on the end of the horn. it works better because you have more leverage and looks just as cool. and you can route the cable either way so you dont have to have the housing sticking out like a giant piece of silly string. or you could just chop the brake off and be done with it.
