Today at noon I will be nicotine free for 2 years and 7 months. I always announce it because I am proud of myself and I like to share my method with others so they can enjoy adding another anniversary to their calendar.

I quit cold turkey. I bought a pack while I was sick took 1 drag off the 1st cig and threw it out. I kept those 19 cigarettes with me every single day for the first year and not once did I open it to light one up. It seems like it might be harder doing it that way but for 7 years my method was smoking my last one and quitting which ended up with my bumming one or buying a pack which started the whole cycle again. This way it was my choice and it has helped me from starting again.

I know a lot of people who have quit and started again, a number of them quit by force either from being sick or not having them around. I used to work in an environment where 8 out of 10 people smoked in a confined area and I have also been through incredible stress in the last year and neither of those events made me start up again.

I get cravings sometimes and all my life I have never enjoyed the smell now I'll catch myself lingering in the smoke for a quit relief the smell can bring.

I just wanted to share that and I wish anyone who is currently trying to quit the best of luck. Have a great day!
