Has anyone ever done it?

I have a friend running this year. I thought it would be fun to watch him race this year. I know the official website recommends using the metro system. But I thought it could be fun to combine watching his favorite sport with mine (cycling). I should be able to move through the city fairly fast via bike.

Since I have never been to the race however I don't know if street closures/overcrowding/security would make it too difficult to bother.

Thanks

I think it could be done, its been a few years since I was at one but I think even on foot you can see the runners several times. As far as I know the finish is still pretty close to the start.
