Folks,
I've been researching for a few weeks on how to paint a bicycle frame. I just want to run what I think I need to do thus far, and see if there is anything I missed. My frame right now has a white coat of ordinary spraypaint on it; therefore, it is scratched to hell and chipped. There was nothing wrong with the original paint; the previous owner just wanted a white bicycle.
SO I plan on sanding the white paint down to the original blue coat. I do not want to go any further than this because, a) I don't have the proper sanding tools, b) I don't have the patience, c) I do not think it is necessary for what I'm trying to achieve. Throw a coat of white acrylic car paint on, wet sand, another coat, wet sand, then the last coat. Once dry, apply a coat of clear coat, wet sand (high grit), and apply a final clear coat.
Does this sound reasonable? I know it won't turn out anything like a professional powdercoat, but for me that is fine.
Thanks
