Hi everyone,

I'm fixing up a Peugot (french threading in various places, I guess). I was holding the fork attached to a wheel and was cleaning the crown race when I slipped and the fork revolved down to the floor and dented in the threaded top of the fork. I threaded on the top race and used a screwdriver and hammer to whang away at the dent until I could put the stem in pretty far. However, when I got the headset together and then stuck the stem back in, it doesn't go in as far. The stem I am using is a 22.2 sanded down to fit in a 22 fork. Two questions:

What is the best technique to take out this dent?

If the locknut is stopping my stem from going in, can I swap in the locknut from some 22.2 and be able to thread this different locknut on (is the threading the same)?

I would seek out a replacement for the fork

After you get it as straight as you can, use a reamer to clean up the inside of the fork tube.
