Folding Bikes - How come there's no picture thread?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

With all these folders, and everyone's enthusiasm for them, I'm surprised that there is no photo gallery/picture thread. I'm sure there are others out there that enjoy looking at others bikes. Just a thought.

The "name your bike" sticky thread has lots of pics of folders, but there is not a dedicated gallery as such...
I will post a picture of one of my bikes on the "name your bike" thread.

Some of us here use other photo hosting web sites and refer to them. That is what I do now. I can suggest others see what I have done and not take precious space from Bike Forums' own Web site.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK when I post the URL of an image, the image is on my space, not Bike Forums'. And my band width is used when the image is viewed. I didn't even know you could upload images to Bike Forums' own Web site.

FWIW... I find photobucket.com very easy to use, and it is free. I just click the photo icon above the BikeForums message editing window (the one which is mountain on a yellow horizon) and paste the url to where my photo is located. Photobucket creates an URL for every photo. Seems pretty easy to me.
As for bandwidth, are we talking about (1) a user's bandwidth to access bikeforums.net? (2) bikeforum's hosting burden? (3) something else? Not to be a tech snob, but is anyone using dialup anymore? User bandth is pretty irrelevant for anyone using a broadband connection, so I fail to appreciate that complaint. As to bikeforum.net's hosting burden, it's a business. Let's let BF's management decide its policies regarding photos.

I think "(2) bikeforum's hosting burden" was meant. And I don't think bikeforums.net is a business as such. As far as I know/understand it is a private website that the owner (Joe Garnder) actually puts lots of money in. Some of the hosting costs are covered by ads and some by members who donate (and/or don't want any ads). The rest seems to be covered out of Joe's pocket.

Forgive me for sounding hard-hearted, but either Joe runs it as a business, or he should run it as a business. It may have started as an altruistic gift to the cycling community hosted on a home pc, but fast forward to today with thousands of posts and who knows how many 'hits' per day it has moved into the category of business, regardless of whethe Joe makes or loses money. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I figure the quid pro quo for what I get here is being exposed to all the ads. If Joe can't balance the books with the revenue he's got, that's a choice he makes. BF's a cool place, but it's no 501(c)(3) organization.

I'd say the best (free) photo hosting has to be Flickr (http://www.flickr.com) because of the searchable tags for the images. I've found several Twenty owners this way.
All my Twenty pix are up there for all and sundry to see..
