Outcast? Hmmm, if you can ride that bike like a mad man, you'll be a hero!:D
There is an old guy, Jack that we met about 10 years go on the trail. He was 63 back then and rode a yardsale special he bought for $60. He wore an old ice cooler carved helmet with do it yourself reflector tape strategically placed on it. Orthopedic looking shoes, cargo type shorts and socks from walmart. Handlebar tape was hanging of the bars and dirty to the max (gag me with a spoon). The bike he rode was a "ZUNOW" with Shimano 600 components. Many have never heard of it but was made a few years back by a custom builder. Met one other guy on one and that is the story he told me, so I'm not sure.
Anyway, once we were at the beach stop when a few racers from a local high end bike shop rode up. They were sporting their shop racing team jerseys, all nice and purty. They were about to leave so Jack said,"I think I'll try to keep up with these kiddies". I said,"don't hurt 'em Jack". The racer dudes looked up at me and laughed.
Gina and I rolled up on our tandem as the team had stopped at the Pond waterstop. I asked one of the guys,"hey, where's the old man?". He looked up at me once again, but this time said," that mofo dropped us like a sack of potatoes!". Couldn't help but chuckle when he said that.
Jack was a really fast rider. He had averaged 24 mph on a 20 mile ride once while riding with his racer son. Didn't look like he could, but he could. Now he rides a recumbent in his early 70's and just cruises the trail. But Dam, he was fast in his 60's! I wouldn't be suprised if some of the old guys here know him.
The moral of the story? heck, I forgot, it was a long story!:D

Can't be, why would you think you are a out cast?. A bike is a bike man as long as you use it it really does not matter what kind of bike it is.

im constantly amazed by many of your posts max - your a really switched on kid! I have a feeling you might be what my grandfather used to call an 'old soul'. apparently i was one of those too. Your obvious individuality is a gift - dont sacrifice it to satify other kids at school. if you feel more comfortable hanging out with older people then do that. As you can see many people on BF admire your bike and who you are!!!
