mtblurkr........thanks for suggesting that Mexican grill joint. Very tasty. I had the calamari burrito.

Question: How do you like your MX Comp? Jenson's got the MX Pro on sale now so I was thinking......I definitely need to soften my ride before my next mtb outing...:D

if you get the MX Comp, get ETA. The difference between the noraml MX Comp and the PRO, is on the pro, it has external rebound adjustments, the normal one needs to be taken apart a bit to do so. I have the normal MX Comp w/ ETA on my full suspension and LOVE IT. very plush. Once you adjust the shock rebound to your body weight/ ride style, you don't need to adjust it much at all. Everything else can be adjust by air, which is quick. You'll need a shock pump when you get a fork. My REBA came with a shock pump with it.

mtblurkr........thanks for suggesting that Mexican grill joint. Very tasty. I had the calamari burrito. That particular Durango Mexican Grill used to be a Taco Mesa. I never asked why it changed names. I was looking the Calamari burrito also but decided on the shrimp burrito. Very tasty also.

Question: How do you like your MX Comp? Jenson's got the MX Pro on sale now so I was thinking......I definitely need to soften my ride before my next mtb outing...:D Front suspension will definitely make your off road riding experience more comfortable. The MX Comp 85mm version I have is '05 w/alloy steerer and I like it. It's heavier than my old fork but the stiffness makes up it for in handling precision. It's also longer than my old fork so it makes going down hill is alittle easier. I used to have a old Manitou SX Ti (3.5 lb) on it and I thought it was flexi. You may notice this if you are going from a rigid fork to suspension fork. There's not too many adjustments on it. Just air for preload and and internal rebound adjustment. Once I got it setup I haven't mess'd with the adjustments.

Octico also has a MX Comp on his bike.

I love the shock! I have had for about 1 year,I like that fact that once you set it up you don't have to mess with it. I have a shock pump you can borrow to set the initial air pressure.

Thanks for the pics, guys. You all look great and I'm jealous. I did ZERO cycling this weekend. ZERO. You know, sometimes, you just need a break and a different activity than the one you're used to doing! Anyway, I'm glad you all had fun on the trails. :D

I'm seriously considering asking Bill (Scootcore) if I can borrow a bike and joining. I got turned off from mtbking due to the trail I was taken on by another group (in their defense, they assumed I'd love it since I'm brave on the roads!). It scared me. But I think with this group, there are enough "newbies" or "semi-newbies" that I might be okay.:o Thanks Herb. :)

Why thank you, Voltaire. I think so. It was a really wonderful class. I mean, it was shocking to me how great it felt to be back in the saddle since I hadn't been in that class for so long (and it was so not like riding my road bike). The instructor is this amazing athlete who really knows the moves and within no time, I was flying high. My heart rate was way up and I was smiling ear to ear. I love those types of workouts!

For any of you who eschew spin class, I think you should give it another "spin." :D

there are also other options... Limestone is gorgeous and the routes I went on were pretty much the same level... we'd just need to talk nice to BCIPam or VMC to see when they could go... its not much further than Chino and would be a change...

I'm happy to go back to Chino Hills though if that is the consensus...

its beautiful but the other good thing is that it's private... no boy scouts, flyin' bikers, etc.... once M.E. commits, we'll let her pick ;) ... she may have something to do in OC afterwards if we time it right :p

Smart girl you are! I've recently had a huge desire to explore the OC and what it has to offer. And I would love to do a mtb ride with you and Herb down there. But Friday? People, I work for a living! It would have to be a Saturday or Sunday. And perhaps if I ask nicely enough, some of the locals will want to join us...:D

I work too....well most of the time...but I have been taking fridays off....
Sat or Sun is fine...I just thought less crowds on a friday....this past sat in Chino Hils was very crowded..
Either way...lets do it soon...maybe we go to Chino Hills first since its closer...see how you like it before treking any further out....
Also Tracy and I are thinking of doing the Corba free mtb skills class on Sat Jan 6th....I did it years ago...and it was really good...its out in Malibu Creek State park....

well then you'll just have to do your road ride in the morning and then come on down here for an easy mountain bike intro ride... it won't tire you out physically, its more to get used to riding in the dirt... that's what I'm doing now, just getting used to the bike on different surfaces and how it moves... like sand used to completely freak me out... now it only freaks me out half completely ;) I'll get there... I just want to get good enough to tag along on an intermediate trail... I don't think I'll ever get to the point where I'm a daredevil... but I do have fun, even now.

besides, you can always pop over to my house and grab a shower before heading out for a wild saturday night! ;)

Yes, very good, thank you for asking. I'm drinking a Mondavi Reisling that a friend gave me recently. Great new friend, one I hope becomes a regular, and yummy wine. I'll have to thank that friend the next time I see him! I find men don't care for the sweeter wines, but those who have me figured out, know that I do. ;)
