Greetings Folks,

Here's an odd one - at least to me it is.

Sometimes after riding my knees feel very warm to the touch. I don't recall ever feeling this sort of thing in the past when I used to ride.

A brief recap: I'm overweight and began cycling again in January to help shed those extra pounds I've put on. I'm riding a K2 Mach 2.0 with look pedals/cleats. I have not been professionally fitted for the bike - I am having that done on April 4th.

Anyway some times after riding my knees feel really warm - like today Donna and I did a 15 mile ride and got home around noon. At 2:00 this afternoon my knees still felt warmer than the rest of my legs.

Anyone ever experience this sort of thing before?

Zack

I am not really sure. The warm feeling could be due to the increase in volume of blood flowing to the knee area. Thus, it could have resulted from some injury which requires more blood to aid healing. This is only a possibility, hopefully more people would reply and help you find a answer. Anyway, does your knee ache when you walk or climb the stairs? Does other area of the body ache and is warm?

oxologic: My knees don't ache when I go up or down the stairs. As far as other aches and pains there's little things here and there but nothing gets my attention like my knees do. I may be over doing the riding thing. I been riding almost everyday this past month and this may be a sign that my knees need a little rest. I'm taking a day off from riding tomorrow and plan to only ride 6 miles on Monday - 6 more miles and I'll have 300 for the month.

Hi,
that sounds horrible. It also is quite unusual.
Sounds like one of two things is happening. Either your perception is mistaken; or you're doing something that is harming the knee. As a precaution, you might want to lay off any activity that causes this until you can see your doctor.
