Hey, this is a pretty sweet vintage Cinelli stem, but the bottom of it chipped and it's cracking a bit. This is all probably less than a CM, but it looks like it'll get worse. Is there anything I can do? Is it OK to ride like this? Can I just use a hacksaw and shorten it above the crack?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kyle

You could saw above the crack and slot the remaining quill to accept the expander but I'd be worried about the rest of the stem. If the quill is that bad, what else is wrong?

Trust me on this, a stem that breaks while you are riding is an experience you don't want.
