I am going nuts! Where do I sell my vintage bike stuff? E-bay is gasping for bidders, the other classic sites are like in a coma. It seems that the vintage bike market is about as popular as the Tour de Baghdad. What am I going to do with all this stuff? I can't get a dollar bill for a decent set of SuperbePro brake levers. Anyone know of any new and exciting vintage and/or classic sites?

Any ideas on exactly where the market is going?

wait till it gets a few degrees warmer... I'm sure that will stir some folks out of their lethergy.

In the meantime, what do you have? I'm shopping for a few things (including superbe pro bits & pieces), but am hopelessly poor ;) Maybe we can meet in the middle on price somewhere?

Feel free to mail me at traciandjed AT aol.com if you'd like

older mavic (801, etc) components, circa 1980-1985.
older suntour superbe / superbe pro components, same vintage
several seatposts (the only size I recall off the top of my head is a 26.8.. just lemmie know what you have if you can)
older wheels for both riders and restos ... 700c, 27"... campy, suntour, older dura ace/ultegra/600 hubs
nos cassettes/freewheels/cogsets (5/6/7speed)

In other words, I'm looking for almost everything and picking pieces up as I can here and there. If you do have a list, feel free to email me at bigblackbunnys@aol.com

Thanks much

It'll start picking up soon. The whole Northeast has had a pretty rough winter this year.

Also as mentioned, everyone's watching the war and not thinking much about buying stuff.

We've noticed larger market changes over the past few years.
Balloon tire stuff is falling out of favor, musclebikes (Schwinn Sting-Rays, etc.) have slowed. Vintage Lightweights are holding pretty steady, though interest is higher than prices lately.
English 3-speeds are going gangbusters - probably 'cause they're decent transportation.

Not only 7 years, but gas prices about double than 7 years ago, new bike prices at $1000 for mid-entry level, high speed internet in about 800% more homes than 7 years ago, and one little internet site that started from someone's basement: Craigslist

I just put a classic desirable vintage lightweight (1973) on Boston Craig's list for what I thought was a low price (certainly lower then many items in the ebay/Craigslist items thread
for Boston) and I didn't get a bite other then from a collector from across the country. Certainly Boston Craig's list is swamped with over priced bikes. I have no problem selling the
cheaper straight tube bikes to students and twenty somethings although they are moving slower then 2 years ago.

+1! ebay really woke up the eve of April 1st. Do a search on "Stronglight" and the usual 2 pages had expanded to about five this week.
Spring has Sprung and the bikes are rolling!

In the dead of winter there were ~50 Peugeot listings on ebay. At the moment there's 122.

I can't get a dollar bill for a decent set of SuperbePro brake levers. OK, I'll give you a dollar apiece. Anyone know of any new and exciting vintage and/or classic sites?

Any ideas on exactly where the market is going? It fluctuates; look at it long-term, and it hasn't changed that much.
If you're serious, list your stuff with .99 starting bids and see where they go. The market it healthy.
