My beloved Specialized Hardrock was ripped off Sunday afternoon and I need a replacement, so I'm once again considering adding a cross bike to my now empty stable.

The last time I was considering a CX bike I basically fell in love with the Lemond Poprad Disc, but the one retailer I could find locally who could get them wouldn't budge from $1899 Canadian and since I only had $1700 I ended up buying a HDTV instead. Probably a good choice, as no one has attempted to steal my TV yet.

I stopped into my local local LBS which I regularly frequent for service and accessories, told them about what happened, what I was considering, and they suggested I opt for an Opus Sentiero. This particular store sells Specialized, Norco, Santa Cruz, and Opus. The Sentiero came up after I mentioned not particularly liking the Tricross, and how fond of the Poprad I had been.

Anyway, is anyone familiar with this bike? They didn't have any in stock and I don't expect to actually see one unless I order it myself since most LBS' around here don't seem to stock CX bikes at all. Also, if anyone can give me an idea of how much these things are selling for I'd appreciate it.

Did you ever get one? or even see it? I just contacted Redbikes in Edmonton about a different bike and they put me on to that one. It seems like a pretty impressive bike for the cost, but I can't find any background info on them. He's selling them for $1295 CDN.

Lemme know.

dude, save yourself half the $$$ and buy a brodie romulus for 900$ CAD... and then pay about another 200-300$ to upgrade the parts on it... well worth it.

You're telling me I can upgrade both derailleurs, the pedals, go to a 2 chain-ring system, put on disc brakes for less than 400$? Where do you get your parts? Plus the Opus has an aluminum frame and carbon fork. It seems like a pretty good upgrade over the Romulus.

Since Opus just started into the cyclocross market last year not many people have them and reviews are hard to find. Opus makes two cross bikes - the Sentiero and the Stelle. I bought the Opus Stelle this year. It's around $2000.00 so probably out of your price range, but it's a great bike. The difference between the two is the Sentiero is mainly 105 and Tiagra components whereas the Stelle is 105 and Ultegra. I love the bike and would definately recommend it. Good luck on your search.
